This client is actually not even a client, he's a homie - one of the few people that works as hard (or as frequently) as I do. This is another one of his babies, and it's taking off exponentially. I suggest you get your goods from him now, before you see him on MTV Cribs in the next year or so. Wait - is that show still on?

After an inexplicable delay, I finally got around to replacing the timing and serpentine belts on the Transporter2 - 30,000 miles later than I was supposed to. Super Happy Fun Time shout-outs to Jeffro at CARTune for use of the scissor lift and his belt ninja skills, and to Justin "I run dis" at Pann for the parts flow.
Oh yeah, I helped Jeffro with his 411-only website, and it's finally up and running too. Check it out at http://CARTuneAutoRepair.com.
This client wanted a site revision quickly, after having been abandoned by their previous developer in a Flash/PHP jumble of code.

In case you, like me, couldn't suffer the bohemian-hipsterfest that is Coachella to see Tokyo Police Club rocking out on a main stage (I think), you have about 40 days and nights to wait until their new album, Champ, hits Amazon's meatspace delivery warehouses.
The guys at Bumper Solutions, who travel all up and down the Southern California freeways to repair minor fender benders with ease, have decided to "re-instate" the website I designed for them last year. I'm not sure why they had me redirect to http://bumperone.com, but so it was.
This site was older than dirt, with a copyright date of 2003 as late as 2009. So, I offered to revamp the site and put it on a content management system that would make it easier to update, and include an online shopping cart for custom manufactured parts and accessories.
Although we just uploaded the revised version of this site a few months ago, a major change in the client's business direction prompted a new redesign. This is the result.

Regional contracting/construction company wanted to showcase their past work for current and future potential bids, along with the ability to change/add content as necessary, without the need for a dedicated web administrator
The guys over at ARK Design commissioned me to execute the redesign of their website, www.arkdesign-us.com. The redesign was done by Nick at SpinCycle, and I implemented the e-commerce, news blog, and custom scripting for locating dealers by address. Of course, the content management system is still in beta, but it was time to get it out into the "real world" part of the testing cycle. Check them out and buy some of those cool ass R8 wheels.
Because this small business site is based on a Wordpress blog and various integrations and plugins, the different client end-users have complete and total access to updating the content in a friendly, non-internet-savvy interface.

The Mandarin Garden website was looking a little stale, so I redesigned it and rebuilt the whole thing into the Joomla CMS with a bunch of custom features instead of the hand-coded PHP that it was running before.
Check out their new site at http://mandaringardensd.com and sign up for coupons and specials in their mailing list. The food is good - I actually took payment of the redesign in salt and pepper chicken trays! Yummy!

Internet Explorer 7 Still Sucks... as does my coding
Monday, 28 July 2008 07:16
Okay, it has come to my attention that, because of the stupid hacks and cracks that I've been using on this Blogger account, Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 fails to load this site properly. Well, for the short answer, download Firefox. For the long answer that you may not understand...
This site is for a local Chinese-food restaurant. The code is all hand-coded in Dreamweaver in PHPl, XHTML, and CSS, and includes a number of custom PDF downloads and a user-registration script, complete with back-end administration. And if you're looking for fantastic Salt and Pepper chicken wings (and great food all around, for that matter), make sure you check them out! Smack dab in the heart of Mira Mesa.
Well, in one fell swoop (actually, it was a long dull-butter-knife-through-frozen-ham five or six months) I've been relieved of my responsiblity as Editor-in-Chief at TPR Magazine and am now relegated to simply being a Contributing Editor.
I'm man enough to admit, I've done some "graphic design", but I'm no graphic designer. As a wise man once told me (of my design "style"), "It's not ripping off - it's being inspired by." So, for all those times I've made inspired errors in design judgment (and there are MANY) someone has created the DESIGN POLICE! For all you up-an-coming designers, pay attention!
If you have iTunes installed on Windows and you don't have an iPhone (even if you do), you may want to sit up and take notice; there's now an alternative called SongBird that mops the floor up with Steve Jobs' face.
Hey, it looks like everyone's favorite cutting-edge artist, Shepard Fairey, is under fire for using an Associated Press image to make his now ubiquitous Obama/Hope print
I freely admit that I use the completely awesome combination of DVD Decrypter/ImageBurn and DVD Shrink in order to make copies of films THAT I OWN (back off, copyright Nazis) so that my kids don't scratch them. But I recently encountered a weird problem - "reauthoring" the DVD (removing everything - or nothing - from the DVD except for the film itself) would cause DVD Shrink to instantly crash.
I realized I've been neglecting my "fake ass shoe collector" blog posts, so here's the latest news, hot off the presses today. Lakai MJ2 Select, Black Nubuck
See these guys live. Then go out and get their shit. Even if you have to sit through a whole Angels & Airwaves set, among Angels & Airwaves fans. I just did at Cox Arena.
If you're on the go and don't have a laptop, but still want your "desktop" to look the same everytime you log into a computer, there is BETA software available called Schmedley that allows you to take it with you.
A few weeks ago, I managed to sell the Kia (woohoo!) and I was all set to get the Bimmer on Craigslist, but I decided against it. A car wash later, and I saw the potential that I first saw when I bought the car. So, now I'm ordering parts for it again. The Volvo 855 will have to wait.
For one day, skateboarders take over the world! Imagine 20 million-plus skateboarders, riding at the same time. No school, no work, nothing but skateboarding.
It's scheduled for 21 June this year (actually, every year) so you still have time to get a board. Hell, if Ocean Howell can still rock it, I should be able to, too. As should you...
If you know me, my history, my likes/dislikes, etc, you may actually believe that the blog found here... http://datruthcometh.blogspot.com ... is somehow my doing! While I do find some of the content funny (and by funny I mean nail-on-the-head accurate and hilarious) I would like to take this opportunity to officially state: I AM NOT DAMESSENJAH and I DO NOT POST ON DA TRUTH COMETH
Okay, now that that's out of the way - good luck DaMessenjah, whoever you are. Just so you know, the industry is wildly speculating about your identity. But, since you appear to be an "industry insider", you probably know that already.
I am by no means a shoe connoisseur, but I suppose to be "current" with popular blogs, I'm supposed to tell everyone what kind of shoe I'm wearing. So, here's what wraps my ingrown toenails right now. Lakoston : Brown Leather : by Lakai Limited Footwear
If you only know Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry (or better/worse yet, from THIS movie, or as the director of THIS movie), then you're missing out on a whole lotta Clint Eastwood. Watch the video above, then find out why it's so funny after the break.
